Liberty

The first three paragraphs of the Libertarian Party Platform that was adopted in the national Convention on May, 2010.

"As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power."-LP Platform

If every American lived by the words just above the USA would be a lot better off. This would be amazing to see. As a Christian there is one problem, people in general are sinful. Yes, we should teach our children about right and wrong but this can't last without the Truth. The Truth is that every human is a sinful creature. Parents don't need to teach there children how to behave bad they are already when the moment that they are born. That is why the Christian Church needs to show the love of Christ. I am sick and tired about how the normal Christian in America is not living up to his/her standard. We Christians need to live as Christ did. I myself do fall at times in my Christian walk. That is where grace from Christ comes in.

I called myself a Libertarian Christian. To be Libertarian Christian is to show God's love through the Church not through the Government. The Libertarian Christian ought to strive to get others to believe but not with force or intimidation. I don't want to use government to advance Christ's kingdom because Christ didn't want a governmental form of reign over the world.

Everyone needs to take a hard look at the Libertarian Platform and Christianity because there needs to be both. If the nation wants to ever to prosper every American needs to take a hard look at both Christianity and Libertarianism.

Disclaimer-I am a Christian first then Libertarian.

No Government Helping Any Individual or a Group of People

There is a debate raging over whether government funds should be used for the creation of the ark. "Governor Steve Beshear today joined the Ark Encounter LLC to announce the planned construction of a full-scale Noah’s Ark tourist attraction in northern Kentucky."(1) I myself am a supporter of Answers in Genesis which is in partnership with the Ark Encounter LLC.(1) I do want to see the Ark project bult with no government help what-so-ever.

There are several reasons why I don't like this idea of government helping private institutes.
1. It is welfare. Taking money from one group of people and giving it to another group of people. Which I call it Legalized Stealing (which I am somewhat taking part in it through government loaning me money to go to college).

2. It dilutes the market because it is basically subsidizing. This one incident with the Ark won't dilute the market that much but with all of the other subsidizing combined dilutes the market. Ronald Reagan was right when he said "Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."(2) The Ark might technically not be a subsidy but in my Libertarian view it is basically a subsidy. I would much rather have the ark built in 2015 or 2016 instead of 2014 if that meant it would not have to get a subsidy from the state of Kentucky.

3. It offends people who are not supportive of the Ark and Answers in Genesis. I am offended if the government gives money to a museum that supports Evolution (which there are already are).

Cut Spending Now!

The United States Government needs to start cutting spending now. These are the Departments that I would like to see go way in 10 years.
Department of:
Agriculture
Commerce
Education
Energy
Health and Human Services
Homeland Security
Housing and Urban Development
Labor
Interior
Transportation
Veterans Affairs*

All of the Departments that are left should either have at least a 10% cut of their budget. That means we could be able to cut taxes from 35% to 20-25% tax rate. This would really help boost the economy. Not only we would be able to cut taxes we would be able to simplify the tax code. The simplification of the tax code would bring a big boost in the economy because of all of the waste that takes place. Great example is when Corporation A have to hire a team of tax accountants to figure out what is the tax code and how many reductions can the Corporation can take. If the tax code is simplified that means Corporation A doesn't have to hire a team of tax accountants it can hire just one or two which would reduce the expense of Corporation A which equals big profits for the Corporation. Not only profits would go up but the Statement of Cash Flows would be a little bit better for companies because of the less tax obligation. In order to be able to cut taxes we need first cut spending.

*Veterans Affairs is another bureaucratic entity that doesn't get the Vets what they need/want from government. It is much better to be helped by family, friends, and charities. Yes, I do support the military.

A great halt happen on election day for intrusive Government

The Republicans have a 2nd chance if they mess this one up the Republican Party will not exist long. There is a particular race that I was excited for not in Minnesota but in Kentucky, the Senate race. I am very well please with the result of Rand Paul (son of thee Ron Paul) winning the election for Senate. Rand Paul had great victory at 55.8% while his opponent Jake Conway only took 44.2% of the votes. Rand Paul will help bring the Republican Party back to its roots.

Now, In Minnesota for the first time for 38 years the Republicans has controlled in the State Senate. "The GOP Senate takeover puts both legislative chambers under Republican control for the first time since 1972." - Josh Simeone from KSTP. The only thing that is now not in question in Minnesota is that who is going to be the next governor of Minnesota. There is a recount going on right now. This could process could take a months. If this process does take months that means Tim Pawlenty would still be governor. Tim Pawlenty could then cut spending quickly with a Republican controlled State Senate and House. I think that Pawlenty should go for it if this process takes months.

I am will please with the elections but still have a concern with the Republicans losing their soul in DC and St. Paul

Politician's Pay

Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, and other. The Politicians should get payed a lot less then what they are making now. In 2009, the Congressional Politicians where taking in a yearly salary of $174,000. We should pay our Congressional Politicians well but not to much to make it a career out of it. According to the salary of $174,000 about 1/2 is taking from taxes so there take home is about $87,000. After a good 20 years in Congress they become millionaires. Gee I wonder why there is so much corruption on the Republicans and Democrats. Don't get me wrong there are a few politicians that refuse to have a pay-raise. We should pay our politicians but not so they can do a good 20 years and become millionaires after words. They should only make about $75,000-125,000 a year not $174,000. I wonder if politicians would stick around for years if they start out making $125,000 a year then every year they get a reduction of pay. Say for every year that a politician is in office he/she gets a reduction of 10% from his/her first year's pay. They can stay forever but they won't have really any incentive of staying around. That might be a good idea but are the politicians are going to do that probably not. If they did they'll just raise there pay so high it the 10% won't mean anything.

Foreign Policy

I had written an argumentative paper for my composition class in the Spring Quarter at Minnesota School of Business (if you are going for a business degree go to that school, it is really great). The teacher said that we could write about any topic. So I decided to write about Nation Building.

While I was searching for things of Foreign Policy/Nation Building, I stubble on this article on the history of Nation Building of the United States, and how successful the United States were in Nation Building.

"Since 1898, the United States has been nation building"-Nation Building by me. It was in Cuba that the United States first intervention conflict. The war was to help Cuba to be independent from Spanish rule. The press played a big roll in starting the Cuba intervention. Some major reporters went down to Cuba and saw some things that Spain was doing to Cuba. The reporters stretched the truth on how bad Cuba was in. Spain was ruling Cuba with an iron fist but reporters decided to over play what was going on. The United States citizens, as whole, wanted something done about Cuba. So Congress took action to send the military down to Cuba to help the natives to be free.

Cuba was the first taste of Nation Building that the Untied States had.

Nation-Building, The American Way-Colonel Jayne A. Carson United States Army wrote about how Nation Building got its start and how the USA is doing now with Nation Building. In his paper he basically says that Nation Building only truly works when there is a major war against one country, like WWII Japan and Germany. Japan and Germany is rank in the top 5 economies in the world. All of the other nation building that the Untied States did never gotten as good as Japan and Germany. The cost of Japan and Germany to be a prosperous nation is too hard to calculate. Probably untold billions of dollars.

The cost of nation building is so costly and only works in certain conditions that is not worth the USA's money and blood to help the nations to be free. If a nation's citizen wants a change in leader/government the citizens must be united and must be like the Untied State revolutionary war.

Closing statement:
We should not nation build because it is way too costly.

Divisions in the Liberty movement.

There seems to be a unhealthy division between the Libertarian Party and the Libertarian Republicans. I was at the Libertarian Party of MN meeting on Saturday morning. One of the topics that was talked about was the division between the Libertarian Party and Libertarian Republicans/Ron Paul People. I think if there is some kind of organization that would help unite the two camps but leave them separate to do there job in promoting Freedom and Liberty. The LP has a general mission to seek anybody to Liberty and Libertarian Republicans could focus on their mission to keep the Republicans in check. Both sides should agree to vote for a candidate that scores the most for Liberty. Say, if there is a Republican that is not for Liberty then the Liberty should vote for the LP candidate. If there is a candidate that holds to Libertarian values in the Republican Party both camps should seek to support him/her and hold there feet to the fire if they fail to promote Liberty while in office. It is more important to get small government people in office than bickering from both camps of the Libertarian Camp.

MN Politics

There is no real candidate that holds Liberty values in the governor race in Minnesota.

I don't like Emmer(R) because I now he doesn't hold to the values of Liberty as much as I wanted him to. Don't get me wrong, he seems nice and is the best out of the three candidates but I don't trust him because he spend some time in the State Legislative. Maybe to him this is like the next step up toward more power and maybe to the president seat.

I dislike Dayton(D) more so than Emmer. Dayton wants to tax the richest Minnesotans because of "fairness" Some business owners are already planing to move out of the state if Dayton wins. If Dayton wins South Dakota sounds really good, especially if I am going to start a business.

I like Horner(IP) simply he is not a Republican/Democrat. I do agree with him on some issues. He himself was a business owner and really knows how to do payroll. He score big with me with business owner at least he understands.

I am stuck between three choices Emmer, Horner, or a write in. I might want to write in a person just so I can save my conscience for voting for somebody I don't enjoy.

I am little disappointed in the Libertarian Party of Minnesota because they don't have a candidate running for Governor. I might just write in one of the leaders of the Libertarian Party of MN.

Taxes & Spending

There should be NO INCOME TAX! Instead, there should be a consumption tax at 5%-10%. But in order to ever have a consumption tax at 5%-10%, there needs to be a BIG SPENDING cut. If there is a major reduction of taxes there will be a deficit if there is no decrease of spending.

Ideally spending should be only 10% of GDP not 17-20%.

Actually when politicians say that there would be more revenue if we tax more, that might be true up to a year from the tax hike. But the GDP would go down so it will level off to about 18% (give or take 3). This is a very historical number. So, no matter how high taxes are GDP will shrink to get to the point where taxes will only be about 20%. In 2008, the percent of receipt(mostly taxes) is 17.7% of GDP, but outlays(spending) was 21%. Last year 2009, the receipts are 15.1% that means the GDP has gone down. But the outlays of 2009 are even more striking comparing to the receipt as a percent because the outlays are 28.1%.

This is why raising taxes is generally a bad thing for the GDP. Tax hikes in the short run (with in a year) might make sense but it will quickly result in a decrease of GDP which means either the private sector will not create jobs or cut jobs.

The most pressing issues are Taxes, Spending, and Debt. It affects all Americans, young, old, in between, and future generations.

Brendan Kelly re-elected selectman in Seabrook NH

He won the re-election in the NH. He had 3 opponents. I am hoping that this would be the spark of a Congressional win for NH in November 2010. The link is http://lpnh.org/blog/chairman/2010/brendan_kelly_re_elected_selectman_in_seabrook

Mr. Barr and Mr. Root

Barr/Root ran for president as Libertarians. They were for small government and more freedom. As for the Democrats and Republicans they want there version of big government. The Barr/Root Cormmical is a good example why I am a Libertarian.

Ron Paul won the CPAC

Ron Paul got 31% Mitt Romney got 22% and Sarah Palin got 7%. While MN Gov. Tim Pawienty was in fourth place at 6%. I know how to kill the Libertarian Party, the Republican Party picks Ron Paul for Presidental Nominee or somebody that is very close to his view point. I would vote for the Republican Party if it elect Ron Paul for there nominee in 2012. If they don't elect him I will ending up voting for the Libertarian Party. If the GOP want my vote than they should get their act together and vote for Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the only candidate that has a good rap sheet. Everytime he votes he votes for the Consitution even if he is "lone ranger." But if he dose not get the nominee for the Republican Party I would be supporting Mr. Root for the Libertarian Nominee.

State of the Union Address

Scince Obama was on television so much why do he needs to have even more television time. I do like it when Obama talked about small business but he should of said that small business is the back bone of USA Economy. 75% of business are small business in the USA. If congress cut business taxes espicaly for small business the economy would get out of this reasion. FICA taxes the employee and employer at 7.65% each totaling 15.3%. If congress and the President elimate FICA that means every employee would have an increase of pay.

My Libertarian Testimony

We need to have a smaller government because there will be more freedom. I don't trust the government who ever is in office. I use to support Bush just because my parents supported him. I didn't really thought of it because I couldn't vote. In the late 2007 I was started to lose support for Bush. I was for Mike Huckabee in the Republican Race because he was the only one who had the most executive experience. But when he endorsed McCain I began to look at 3rd parties. I was looking at web sites that has a list of all the 3rd parties in the United States. I figure that I need to research most of the parties out there because I knew my vote matters even if it is one. People died for me to vote that was the first and still one of my main reason to vote. Then I discovered about the Libertarian Party. This party was for small government not the Republican Party. That is why I am a Libertarian.

Why the Libertarian Party?

The Libertarian Party is for reall change not the type of "expand the government change" that you can get from most Dems and Reps. Why the LP this video would explane it a lot better.

My First Blog in 2010

I received an e-mail from the Libertarian Party.
The Libertarian Party release its Top Ten Disasters in the Obama Administration(in no particular order):
1. Cash for Clunkers
2. War escalation in Afghanistan
3. Giant Government Health Care Expansion Bill
4. Post Office loses money hand over fist
5. Stimulus Package
6. Expansion of "State Secrets" Doctrine
7. Big increase in unemployment
8. "Bailout" Geithner as Treasury Secretary
9. Skyrocketing Federal Spending
10. Huge Federal Deficits

Then the Libertarian Party also put the top ten Disasters of the Bush Administration.
1. Cash for Car Companies
2. War in Iraq
3. Giant Medicare Expansion Bill
4. Post Office loses money hand over fist
5. Stimulus "rebate" checks
6. PATRIOT Act
7. Big increase in unemployment
8. "Bailout" Paulson as Treasury Secretary
9. Skyrocketing Federal Spending
10. Huge Federal Deficits

The main reason why I voted Libertarian because I don't trust the Republicans. I have more trust with the Democrats than the Republicans because I know what will most likely happen if I voted for the Democrats big government.
I do admit that I was close to voting for McCain/Palin because of Palin. Palin was a politician that was outside of D.C. This would be a threat to the elite in Washington. I didn't quite want to have a war mongering President(even though we have know). I guess there was hardly any big difference between McCain and Obama. What really made me pulling for Barr(presidential candidate of the Libertarian Party) was the BOMB which stands for Bush Obama McCain Bailout. This was a major point in the race that I knew that McCain would be the wrong choice for President. Know I am looking forward for the Libertarian Party in 2010. I hope that at least two Libertarians or at least libertarian minded would get into D.C. I am also a big supporter of Ron Paul. The only way that I would ever vote for the Republican Party is that if Ron Paul or somebody that is 95% like him is the candidate for the Party.
